Molly Koh is a 500-hour Yoga Teacher & IAYT certified Yoga Therapist.

Molly’s first exposure to yoga was through her Mom who has been practicing at home as long as she can remember.  As a teenager Molly started to attend classes and really felt the magic of yoga in her life as she became a consistent student during her time at Stony Brook University.

Molly began working with people with developmental disabilities after receiving her BA and in 2015 left for Thailand to fulfill a lifelong dream of serving in the Peace Corps.  As her Peace Corps service came to a close she sought out a 200 Hour Teacher Training and spent March of 2017 in Bali learning under Kirsten Reiss & Burkhard Langemann of Akasha Yoga Academy.  This was a transformative experience for Molly and affirmed the pull towards the practice she always felt.  Upon returning to New York Molly began teaching part time at various studios on Long Island and New York City and received her masters degree in International Development from The New School.  While working at Huairou Commission, a grassroots women focused non profit, from 2019-2024 Molly continued to teach in community studios and virtually.  Molly received her level 1 Reiki certification in spring of 2024.

In 2025 after completing a 2+ year IAYT accredited program in advanced yoga and yoga therapy through Prema Yoga Institute Molly became a 500-hour Yoga Teacher & Yoga Therapist.  Her specialized studies included: yin yoga, restorative, therapeutic applications, ayurveda, embodied philosophy, functional & applied anatomy, sound therapy, yoga in healthcare settings, cancer care & mental health.

As of 2024 Molly is living in Okinawa, Japan and teaches classes & clients virtually and in person. She loves staying connected with her students and teachers online. Supporting people and communities to reduce suffering and increase freedom is the through line in Molly’s life and purpose. She is constantly inspired by the power and depth of yoga which motivates her to share the practice with others.

Why Mollusk?

Mollusk is an affectionate name given to me by a close friend and sister early in life.  I’ve come to find it fitting because of how mollusks live, grow, and die:

  • Many mollusks are sea dwellers and all have muscular, agile feet.

  • Mollusks grow and adapt their shell over the course of their lives based on their needs —creating a lifelong masterpiece.

  • Home is a part of them, no matter where they venture to.

  • After their life ends they leave something behind which helps others.
